Review of Fre:Ac Audio Converter and Ripper
application software download free Windows
Convert and create music files compatible with popular audio players like MP3, WMA, FLAC, OGG, APE, as well as CDs. Also extract audio from video in general and HD video formats (AVI, MPEG, WMV, MKV, H.264/MPEG-4 AVC, AVCHD) and save them as audio files.
Supported audio formats include MP3, AAC, OGG, APE and Apple Lossless format. A wide range of audio effects can be added during conversion including fade-in, fade-out, volume normalization, band pass, chorus, flanger and echo. The ability to transfer songs directly to an iPod and iTunes is also included.
The interface is easy to use and offers basic settings for the most common conversions. More advanced options can be found in the menus. The option to select multiple files and folders for batch processing is a welcome addition. However, it's not as intuitive as other programs in this list and doesn't preserve folder structure or allow you to designate an output file naming pattern.
fre:ac is a feature-packed program that can handle nearly every type of audio format known to man. In fact, it's the most versatile audio converter we've ever reviewed. That said, it can be a bit overwhelming if you're not familiar with all the advanced features.
